Before you write
How do I play?
Play in landscape. Hold Descend to walk down to the stone, then hold Push to move uphill. Release to breathe. The pause menu offers an optional tap-to-start and tap-to-stop control mode.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Once installed, the game, narration and music work offline. Links to stories, credits and support open external services when you choose them.
I can’t hear the narration or music.
Check your device’s media volume and audio output, including any connected headphones or Bluetooth speakers. In the game’s pause menu, check the separate narration and music/FX settings. Resume the game after changing them.
Where is my progress saved?
Your walk and settings are saved on this device. Choose Continue Your Walk from the title screen to return. Progress does not automatically sync between your iPhone and iPad.
What does Begin Again do?
It replaces your current walk with a new one. Deleting the app also removes its local save, so please contact me before reinstalling if you are trying to recover progress.
The game has paused or is showing rotation guidance.
Turn your device to landscape; on iPad, give the game a wide enough window. The game also pauses when you switch away or an audio interruption occurs. Return to it and choose Resume.
Are there payments or an account to manage?
No. The Walk Down is free, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions, advertising or player accounts.
